Loty Petrovits is the author of more than thirty books for children, ranging from fantasy to novels and dealing with contemporary issues. Her literary portofolio includes picture books, fairy tales, fiction, as well as essays on children's literature.  The originality of her novels is that they are skillfully related to one another, each book retaining its own integrity.  They explore different facets of human experience and deal with various topics from social problems to family conflicts.
	Her works have been broadcast and serialised for the television in Greece and Cyprus.  Her stories have appeared in various magazines, including the American Cricket children's literary magazine.  Two of her stories have been translated into Japanese. She has been awarded various prizes, among them an Athens Academy prize and a State prize, and has received international recognition by being included in Pier Paolo Vergerio and IBBY Honour Lists, having also been an Andersen nominee for 1994.
Parallel to her literary career she is a committed and active member of the Greek section of IBBY, working pationately for reading promotion among Greek children. See also at www.loty.gr
