Christos Boulotis is a well-beloved storyteller. Born in 1952 in Lemnos (island in the northeast Aegean), he studied archeology and comparative linguistics at the University of Athens and in Wurzburg (Germany). Along with his primary occupation of a passionate archeologist that he is, he has become a popular author of children's books, writing stories for children since 1987.

The success of his books stands on the simplicity of the language he uses that is free of pompous, impressive or didactic expressions, as well as on the richness of emotions for the valuable and beautiful things in life. Christos Boulotis' words and images come right from the heart and are intended to return back there again.
His very first book The strange love of the horse and the poplar tree, has been awarded the European prize of Pier Paolo Vergerio.

Next came a State Prize in 2000 for The statue that was cold.
The inspiration for his books is always a real event. Even though the subjects he deals with are always fictional, the idea behind his books is based in reality. He sees in storytelling an act of resistance, stating that he is afraid of grown-ups who don't read stories.
